 Born Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani on 19 April 1957 to Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani. He has a younger brother, Anil Ambani, and two sisters, Dipti Salgaoncar and Nina Kothari. From managing his father’s company, to becoming the richest man in India, Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani definitely has some secrets that made him hugely successful. But wait! SECRET NO.1 Dream Big In the 90’s, Mukesh who was in his 30’s decided to become the largest manufacturer of polyester fiber and yarn in the world,and he really did it. RIL is the largest manufacturer of polyester fiber and yarn in the world and beats the traditional manufacturers from South Korea and Taiwan, who dominated the market in the 70’s. Many man of his kind will have settled for less because he has crumbs to inherit. Big Dreams are terrifying, especially because nobody can see tomorrow. “What if it doesn’t work?” is what we were trained to ask. “What if it works?” is the question successful people ask. Like Mukesh, many people were born into wealth but unlike him, many people who were born rich are satisfy with what they can inherit from their parents. None of us will be happy for having much gold. SECRET NO.2 Trust all, But Don’t Depend On Anybody Ambani in an interview had said that he did not want “people carrying their wisdom in notebooks as if it some kind of secretive operations”. While he has a trusted team of a few people,who have played a pivotal role in the growth of his empire , Ambani has always emphasized on the importance of being involved in one’s own business. He isn’t keen on social dos and neither is he voicing opinions on important economic issues at events such as the World Economic Forum. But still, he is one of the most talked about personalities in his country. Ambani’s focus has always been his business and this entrepreneur is credited for the creation of the world’s largest petroleum refinery at Jamnagar in Gujarat besides other successful ventures. Whenever he has a chance, Mukesh pushes aside his paperwork to interact with his employee. "It gives me the energy and strength to remind me why I’m doing this," he said. "For the employees. SECRET NO.4 Trust your instincts There have been several controversies concerning Mukesh. He has been named, ‘a rich man without a heart’ owing to his splurging of money on building his house Antilia and investing in IPL cricket team. However, Mukesh does what he deems right and mostly, it so turns out that it is the ‘right’ thing to do. Ambani believes that the person who doesn’t take risks will not have major growth in their life. And yes, he proved it from the start of his career. But his risks are calculative, like adventure-seeker and not like a gambler. He knows his goals and will chase them to their logical end. Mukesh took every risk which needed to create biggest business empire. He make some goals, then created plan to chase Goal and followed that plan with positivity. SECRET NO.6 Don’t panic, stay strong Mukesh Ambani joined his father’s business at a very young age. And while he was still in the process of learning the nuances of the business, he lost his uncle and his father’s business partner Rasikbhai in 1986, followed by Dhirubhai Ambani’s stroke within five months of his uncle’s death. Mukesh Ambani faced hurdles in the form of business malpractice allegations too. His detractors, including AAP founder Arvind Kejriwal, accused him of interfering in the governance of the country. RIL as well as Mukesh Ambani himself have denied the allegations strongly. The company has also resorted to legal actions over the controversy. The numerous acquisitions made by RIL, the acknowledgment from leading business entities, and his firm hold on the throne of India’s richest person has not made Mukesh Ambani complacent. Reliance Jio Infocomm, his telecom arm is all set to roll out 4 G services in alliance with his sibling Anil Ambani’s company. Having courage is necessary to succeed in many situations in life.
